ABSTRACT
Dr Kate Lamont will present a social scientist’s perspective about how to approach communication with farmers about biosecurity. She will highlight aspects which make communication challenging and will discuss assumptions about farmers and biosecurity.
She will present the Socio-Epidemiology Biosecurity Framework and a simplified approach which can easily be adopted when considering how to promote uptake of biosecurity.
The presentation will end by sharing surprising social components which can influence the translation of biosecurity intentions into action.
