A presentation on calving intervals amongst breeds and in 2nd calvers to the Scottish Suckler Beef Support Scheme (SSBSS) Reform Stakeholder Group - established by the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and Islands after her announcement on new calving interval conditionality in 2025. Using CTS data calving interval data for breeds and for second calvers was presented to inform discussions within the group. The main database structures and analysis were undertaken for projects within the Scottish Government's Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Strategic Research Programme 2022-2027
A presentation to Scottish Government and industry representative on data analysis on Cattle Tracing System data (cattle movements and registrations) regarding calving intervals of farms considered suckler beef units. Proportion of animals meeting various performance thresholds are provided including distributions by geography, breed and herd size. Slaughter age and heifer calving age distributions were also provided. The data was included in Calving Intervals in Scotland’s Cattle Population: Conditionality Options and the main database structures and analysis were undertaken for projects within the Scottish Government's Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Strategic Research Programme 2022-2027
A presentation on calving intervals and herd size to the Scottish Suckler Beef Support Scheme (SSBSS) Reform Stakeholder Group - established by the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and Islands after her announcement on new calving interval conditionality in 2025. SSBSS claim data from RPID was presented by size category, and using CTS data calving intervals of herds with less than 30 cows presented to inform discussions within the group.
