Organisation profile

EGENES currently provides genetic evaluations for UK dairy cattle on behalf of DairyCo as part of its Breeding+ service. The service is also provided to Eblex through its performance recording company Signet on behalf of sheep and beef breeders. This is in conjunction with BASCO.

This service provides breeding tools to UK farmers to enable them to select the best animals for breeding for a wide range of traits leading to improved performance, greater efficiency and reduced environmental impact. These tools will be expanded through research and the very close association between EGENES and genetic research in Edinburgh.
