Personal profile

Research interests

I am chartered town planner and social scientist, with 20 years experience in academia, private practice and the third sector.  My work focuses on delivering innovation at the intersections of practice and research, to create better land outcomes. I’ve led on planning consents for major capital projects, developed local and national policy, and delivered impactful research.  Since 2020 I've focused on Scottish community landownership and land reform; I delivered an action research project on community landownership ("Community Ownership Hub: Glasgow and Clyde Valley"), and joined SRUC in 2024 to develop this research.

My main areas of research interest are: land governance, land reform, community landownership and commons; inequality, social diversity, community development, community empowerment; power and policy.

I have experience of conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, including action research, spatial analysis, and interviews, focus groups, and workshops.
