Tourism Lecturer (PT Mon-Wed)
I teach onto the Rural Business Management Programme as well as the Countryside Management Programme. My area of expertise is in tourism where I am module leader for 12 modules across the four years. I am Year Tutor for 4th year RBM students which involves providing continuous support and I supervise a number of dissertation projects.
In January 2018 I began my MBA with UWS and this is due to be completed by the end of 2019 with the view to having a deeper understating of rural business which I can incorporate into my area of expertise.
After graduating with a Tourism degree (a while ago) I have worked extensively within the tourism and hospitality sector. My tourism career began working on-board the QE2 followed by the Orient Express Luxury Canal Barge in France where I provided six star standard service for guests on the Rhone River. After travelling and working abroad learning about new cultures I was cabin crew before initiating my own events catering business providing homemade produce for various prestigious sporting events in Scotland. After selling my business I trained in advanced food hygiene with SAC and went on to become a food hygiene trainer for a FE college.
I am passionate about Tourism and keep to update with international issues as well as attending regular industry conferences. I often take part in foreign exchange cultural trips which is an invaluable learning opportunity and as a result I can incorporate the experience into my teaching. I am looking forward to visiting Iceland in the next few months along with other tourism professionals.
