Biography

Florian Payen is a postdoctoral researcher in the Sustainable Ecosystems team at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC). His research focuses on interdisciplinary sustainability and environmental studies.

He is currently part of the Scottish Government-funded CentrePeat project and the EU-funded WET HORIZONS project, for which he is working to expand the marginal abatement cost curve framework for assessing the cost-effectiveness of wetland ecosystem restoration. Alongside this, he is also researching the socio-cultural ecosystem services and values provided by wetlands.

  • Rurban Revolution - Can ruralising urban areas through greening and growing create a healthy, sustainable & resilient food system? (2019-2021): How would rurbanisation influence food production in terms of quantity, quality and safety and the resilience of 
    the UK food system? (Task 1.b).
  • Soils-R-GGREAT - Soils research to deliver greenhouse gas removals and abatement technologies (2017-2021): Assessment of the relative regional and global cost-effectiveness of soil-based GGR through development of MACCs (WP6).
