Project Details
Description
The project will measure a variety of phenotypes contributing towards sustainable sheep production systems, including: methane via portable accumulation chambers (PACs), CT traits (incl. rumen volume), feed efficiency, rumen microbiome, disease resistance, performance in commercial flocks of maternal sheep breeds.
Outputs: Estimated breeding values (EBVs) and genomic breeding values (GEBVs); selection index with green weightings
SRUC contribution would provide the main scientific outputs (genetic parameters, index development), as well as planning routes to implementation (EGENES input), and providing equipment / services for taking most of the new trait measurements (CT, PAC, FI, rumen microbiome).
