Project Details
Description
This project will monitor cow behaviour, via ankle-mounted pedometers (IceQubes), and production levels, via automatically collected data at milking, on cows from their dairy herd.
The aims of the project are:
1.Using cow lying times, assess cow preference for lying down on Agrisoft bedded cubicles, and compare lying times reported in published peer reviewed research for a range bedding type.
2.Assess cow comfort on Agrisoft bedded cubicles using lying metrics; lying bout duration and lying bout frequency.
3.Assess the effects of Agrisoft bedded cubicles on cow production.
4.Assess the effects of Agrisoft bedded cubicles on cow cleanliness, hair loss, and lesion scores.
