Development of microRNA diagnostic test for Johnes disease

Project Details

Description

Development of a lab test using miRNA as a diagnostic tool for detecting Johnes disease in livestock. There is evidence that microRNA profiles change in response to disease. The method proposed to be developed is available commercially but not for use in Johnes. It will aim to allow for earlier detection of the disease, as well as improved sensitivity and speed. This is a feasibility project to develop the test using FirePlex technology miRNA panels from Abcam.
