Federated Learning Optimised for Remote Assessment of Species in Arable and Grassland Ecosystems

Project Details

Description

Project aims:
Develop a system to monitor plant species biodiversity (as a predictor of biodiversity at other trophic levels) from satellite imagery, using models developed with drone imagery. Develops a data platform using Federated Learning algorithms to enable farmers and landowners to contribute and benefit from the system without having to share commercially sensitive data.
SRUC involvement:
WP2. End user requirements. Engage with stakeholders to identify needs, obstacles and establish specification (what the system must deliver).
WP5. Contribute data on pasture species diversity from existing projects (e.g. Re-Livestock) and facilitate the collection, by UWS, of hyper/multispectral images by drone.
WP8. Dissemination and communication.
