Project Details
Description
This project will use Swaledale and potentially crossbred ewes on one farm in Yorkshire to investigate the effect of grazing different forage types on methane emissions from sheep. The forage types tested are likely to include moorland, species-rich meadow and improved grassland. Meathane emissions will be measured using SRUC portable accumulation chambers (PAC) on the farm, where each batch of 12 animals tested will be balanced for forage treatment (and potentially ewe breed).
