Project Details
Description
This project aims to review the evidence for how organic matter quality relates to development of microbial biomass, microbial necromass and long-term SOC storage in soils. It will also explore practical opportunities to manage organic matter quality on farm, to deliver the greatest benefits through increasing microbial biomass and microbially-derived compounds. The results will identify and justify practical on-farm options that maximise benefits from soil microbes, suitable for higher level options in the SFI scheme.
