Project Details

Description

We will work with Denova Solutions to develop 3D models of pigs and their housing to demonstrate best practice approaches to developing housing design that optimsies pig welfare, particularly in relation to farrowing and lactation. The work will involve filming sows and piglets in their different farrowing environments using specialised cameras that can capture different points of view and map out how the animals interact with each other and their surroundings. Our main commercial partner will then create 3D visual models of these animals that a 'learner' can 'place' in different housing options. Interactive learning elements within the model will provide evidence-based information boxes informing the learner of the pros and cons of their decisions.
