Project Details

Description

The aim of this project is to establish how compensation for bTB breakdowns encourages voluntary risk-reduction behaviours whilst also providing support for financial sustainability in our ruminant livestock sector. The project is divided into two workstreams. The first workstream aims to evaluate the effectiveness of bTB compensation and assess how current instruments encourage or disincentivise risk mitigation measures. The second workstream supports design for a new scheme which meets Defra’s desired outcomes for balancing effectiveness in public payments whilst supporting a key industry
