Zeroing in on Grasslands: Unlocking the Potential of Grassland Management in the UK

The project aims to transform UK grasslands for net-zero while supporting soil health, biodiversity, and economy. Specific objectives/workpackages (WPs), include:
Develop participatory scenarios and policies for net-zero grasslands (WP1): Engage stakeholders to identify and co-create transition scenarios, barriers and catalysts for change, and value natural assets.
Develop innovative net-zero grassland management systems (WP2): Estimate GHG emissions, soil health, and carbon sequestration in grassland innovations.
Assess the sustainability of net-zero grassland solutions (WP3): Evaluate impacts and trade-offs of grassland management strategies using holistic assessments and optimisation models.
Optimise tools to support decision-making and behaviour change (WP4): Engage stakeholders to assess sustainability indicators, tools and associated data, using the Global Farm Metric.
Enabling transformation of grassland use (WP5): Provide policy recommendations, learning materials and engage stakeholders to facilitate grassland use transformation in the UK.
Through these objectives the project will drive sustainable change in UK grassland management for net-zero emissions.
