Abstract

THE oats (variety Sun II) used in experiments reported here were grown on waxed nylon mesh and supplied with Hoagland and Arnon's1 culture solution modified by the omission of manganese chloride from the micronutrients. The roots were cut off below the netting when about 3-5 cm. long. They were washed with distilled water and immersed in a large volume of M/1,000 manganese sulphate solution for 2 hr.
