Abstract

We report data showing changes during the growing season in the concentrations of manganese, zinc and copper in the rhizosphere in soil solutions of barley plants. Substantial mobilisation of these trace elements occurred during the early stages of rhizosphere development so that soil solution concentrations increased three fold for the copper and zinc and fifteen fold for manganese.
