Abstract
Out of twenty years e×perience in advisory plant pathology in Scotland the author evaluates the opportunity for increasing agricultural productivity available to many countries throughout the world by efficient crop protection. This is based on area of agricultural land, the type of crops grown, and some general principles of evaluation of susceptibility measured by the plant's working level of carbohydrate.
