Abstract

The natural woodland habitat of Holcus mollis is discussed and its ability to survive after removal of the trees. Its presence under other environmental conditions is recorded, Examples of its occurrence as a weed are quoted from Scotland, including an instance of competition with an oat crop. The effect of grazing and cultivation on H. mollis is described.
